Drug Takeback Day April 28th, 2018

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is scheduled for April 28th, 2018. This is a good time to take a look at the medicines you have in your home. Are they past their use date or simply no longer needed? Managing them well can help prevent abuse and accidental ingestion. The majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet. And these drugs are an all too common cause of children’s emergency room visits.

There’s no need to wait for April 28th, though. Prescription drug take back locations are available in many areas year round. For information on what drugs are accepted at what county locations near you check out the following links.

WWU also has a web page here with additional information on how better management of these drugs can impact suicide prevention by reducing opportunity and sustainability by keeping them out of our waters.

Please take a moment to look at what’s in your house. EHS would like to see you and your families healthy and safe 24/7.
