Summer 2017 Newsletter
A Message from the Vice Provost for Equal Opportunity and Employment Diversity, Title IX & ADA Coordinator
As campus is filled with the energy of summer programs and new students attending orientation, I am happy to share the Summer 2017 EOO Newsletter. This issue of the EOO Newsletter provides information about Title IX resources for summer programs and available training opportunities for staff and faculty related to equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion. It also provides updates on the work of Western’s Task Force on Preventing and Responding to Antisemitism and implementation of the university’s Gender Neutral Facilities Guidelines.
The Summer EOO Newsletter also includes information that is fundamental to Western’s Title IX program, including reporting options and confidential support resources for survivors of sexual violence, and prevention tools relevant to both our students and our staff and faculty.
As Fall approaches, many of our departments will be turning attention to launching faculty and staff searches. We take this opportunity to outline resources from the EO Office to support you in conducting equitable and inclusive searches for open positions.
For those offices that publish written materials – both in print and on the web – the Newsletter also offers a reminder about federal requirements for equal opportunity and affirmative action statements in university publications.
I hope this summer gives you an opportunity to relax and refresh. All of us in the EO Office – including our new staff members -- Hailey Chittick, EO Office Administrative Assistant and Mallory Sullivan, Title IX and Civil Rights Investigator -- look forward to our continued work with you in the Fall. As always, we welcome your input and comments regarding our programs and this Newsletter. Please let us know your thoughts by calling us at x3307 or emailing email@example.com. Thank you for your engagement in supporting a diverse and inclusive campus community, and for all you do for Western.
