Phase One 2019

Employees and students receive email regarding the annual Student Technology Fee (STF) and requesting Tech Initiatives abstracts.

New STF Committee holds initial meeting.

January 15

Due to STF Committee: one-page Tech Initiatives abstracts from employees.

January 23

Due to STF Committee: one-page Tech Initiatives abstracts from students.

January 18-
February 19

STF Committee reviews abstracts received by the two deadlines.

February 19

STF Committee selects abstracts for which it would like full proposals.

February 21

STF Committee emails invitation to submit full proposal to selected abstract applicants (and notification emails to abstract applicants not invited to submit proposals).

STF Committee distributes Tech Initiatives proposals to Academic Technology Committee (ATC) Chair for ATC review.

STF Committee invites Western community (via various communications) to give comments on Tech Initiatives proposals. (Tech initiatives proposals will be posted on this STF website.)

STF Committee reviews Tech Initiatives proposals (to include site visits as needed).

Due to STF Committee: ATC and Western community comments on Tech Initiatives proposals.

Early May

STF Committee reviews ATC and Western community comments, develops recommendations, and sends Tech Initiatives project recommendations to presidents.

Early May

Associated Students President and Western President approve recommendations.

May 21

Tech Initiatives project awards are announced. (Award recipients receive award letters via email; a list of projects awarded is posted on this STF website. Applicants not receiving awards also receive emails.)

III. Submitted Tech Initiatives Proposals (AY 2020)

All proposals accepted by the Student Technology Fee Committee were posted to this section III in late April 2020 for comments from the campus community, which are a valuable aspect of the committee's decision-making process.

Comments were due to the STF Committee May 15, 2020. The STF Committee thanks the numerous students, faculty and staff who provided comments this year!

Due to the university’s current temporary suspension of non-essential purchases and expenditures, Tech Initiatives purchases are on hold until at least October 16, 2020. It is anticipated that project activity and purchases will resume as soon as possible in fall 2020.
