Join the campus celebration at the grand opening and dedication of the new Multicultural Center on Tuesday, October 10 at 5 p.m. in the new foyer of the Viking Union, with a reception to follow in the Multipurpose Room and the Multicultural Center. This beautiful new space now hosts the Ethnic Student Center, Student Advocacy & Identity Resource Centers, and Multicultural Services. Explore the library, quiet study spaces, community kitchen and lounges, multipurpose and meeting rooms, and the amazing views. Located in the heart of campus, the Multicultural Center is intended to provide a visible, accessible, welcoming space to support student needs, diverse identities, and inclusive success. The creation of the center involved student initiatives, funding, collaboration and advocacy throughout the decision making and design process.

Construction on the public works project began in December 2017 and was substantially completed in June 2019, allowing people to tour the completed project for the first time during Commencement weekend. Following the bookstore move back into their newly renovated space in July, work was undertaken to restore the Viking Union Multipurpose Room to its original condition in time to host campus events starting in the fall 2019 quarter.
