This project will create a new home for the Ethnic Student Center and three centers under AS Resource and Outreach Programs (Womxn’s Identity Resource Center, Queer Resource Center, and Disability Outreach Center.
It will also be an administrative hub for multicultural education and services.
The expansion will combine the Multicultural Center, Viking Union, Bookstore, Multipurpose Room and KUGS within one building and will become a beacon that celebrates diversity and inclusivity on campus.
The drawings below (provided by Opsis Architects) were completed at the end of the “Design Development” phase in early September. During “design development”, design details from the initial schematic design phase are refined and cost estimates are updated. The creation of construction drawings follow this phase; they are scheduled to be complete in late January.
Actual construction is scheduled to begin in mid-February, however, office and venue relocations will begin in December. Project completion is June 2019.
