Fall 2014 Newsletter

A Message from the Vice Provost for Equal Opportunity and Employment Diversity, ADA & Title IX Coordinator

Sue Guenter-Schlesinger, Vice Provost for Equal Opportunity and Employment Diversity, Title IX and ADA CoordinatorWelcome. The Fall issue of our Newsletter highlights both national and local resources focused on preventing and responding to sexual violence.  October is Disability History Month in Washington, and we share information about employing people with disabilities and Western’s Emergency Evacuation Guidelines for People with Disabilities.  The Newsletter also provides information about trainings offered by the Equal Opportunity Office, including an update about our Sexual Harassment Prevention Training program.  Finally, we highlight two resources provided by our office -- a guide to Equity and Inclusion in Hiring for hiring authorities and search committees, and the latest edition of Western’s Diversity Handbook.

The EO Office cares about your feedback. In our continual efforts to best serve the campus community, we welcome your input and comments regarding our programs, website and this Newsletter. Please let us know your thoughts by emailing eoo@wwu.edu.

I wish you all a wonderful start to the 2014-2015 academic year, and look forward to meeting those of you new to Western.
