QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants are expected to have a strong record of academic achievement and a clear sense of purpose. Early preparation is critical. Fellowships differ; however, the following criteria commonly serve as guidelines in the selection process:

Take challenging courses and do your best in every class you take. Every grade or course evaluation matters.
- STRONG FACULTY RECOMMENDATIONS
Get to know several faculty members as well as academic advisors who will be able to write recommendations.
- DEFINED CAREER GOALS
Consider how you plan to use your education.
- LEADERSHIP SKILLS
Become involved in extra-curricular activites and seek leadership roles.
- CAMPUS AND/OR COMMUNITY SERVICE
Participate in community service opportunities within your field.
- INDEPENDENT RESEARCH
Seek opportunities to engage in independent reasearch within your field.
- INTERSHIP EXPERIENCE
Seek internship and work experience within your field.
