<p>Research and Creative Opportunities Student Grant Applications are accepted during the Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters. The committee will consider requests to support expenses incurred prior to an award notification date if the expense takes place during the same academic quarter as the application is received. Please note that decisions are shared with applicants at the end of each quarter, so applicants should plan accordingly.  </p>

<p>Washington State Court of Appeals District 1 will visit Western's Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies starting at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16 in the Fairhaven Auditorium (FA 300 A&amp;B). The Court of Appeals is a panel of appellate judges that will hear oral arguments on real cases during a community visit to Whatcom County.</p>

<p>National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is held annually during the second week of April to honor public safety telecommunicators for the commitment, service, and sacrifice they give to their community.</p>

<p>WWU Professor of Journalism Carolyn Nielsen has been named a 2024-2025 American-Scandinavian Foundation Fellow. Her fellowship research in Denmark will examine how newsrooms use audience metrics in making editorial decisions. During her professional leave, she will also partner with several Danish universities' journalism departments and engage in survey research studying undergraduate journalism students. </p>
