About The Cliburn

Every four years, the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition brings the most amazing performers from around the world to compete for gold, silver and bronze medals. Known as “the most prestigious classical music contest in the world” (The Chicago Tribune), The Cliburn is often a launching place for the careers of young artists.

The Sanford-Hill Piano Series at Western Washington University has been privileged with hosting Cliburn winners time and again. This season we are excited to have both the silver and bronze medalists bringing their talented performances to our venue in Bellingham!

Previous winners we have hosted in recent years include: Anderson & Roe in 2016, Beatrice Rana in 2015, Vadym Kholodenko in 2014, Haochen Zhang and Benedetto Lupo 2013.
